Skoda Yeti Urban: It's A Pimped Yeti, Dawg!

Crossovers are all the rage at the moment. As the name suggests, they are a cross between the everyday hatchback and the Chelsea tractor; meaning potential for off-roading or having that throne-like driving position without the pocket bashing running costs.

Crossovers are all the rage at the moment. As the name suggests, they are a cross between the everyday hatchback and the Chelsea tractor; meaning potential for off-roading or having that throne-like driving position without the pocket bashing running costs. Skoda's Yeti has been a recent popular choice but they're usually bought by mums with tight wallets that need a spacious and well built family car, which doesn't make it image friendly to us here at CT. Now though, Skoda have released a one-off special to satisfy our inner gangster.

They call it the Urban and it is a limited edition Yeti exclusive to us British lads. Changes to the outside include a set of new 17" 'Matterhorn' alloys, more swollen wheel arches, chrome side strips, silver mirrors and roof rails, tinted rear windows plus stripes on the roof.

Inside, you've got a choice of black or red fabric sports seats and you get lots of tech as standard. A DAB Digital Radio, Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and buttons on the steering wheel to turn up the music and to answer the buddies' calls. You can even get accessories like sports exhausts, aluminium pedals and a DVD player with two 9" screens in the back and the exterior colours available include Black Magic, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Steel Grey.

There's a choice of two engines; a 1.2 TSI petrol or a 2.0 TDI diesel. The petrol produces 103bhp, returns 44.1mpg on average and farts 149g/km of CO2 out of the tailpipe. That one will set you back £16,900. The diesel is more powerful with 108bhp, more frugal as it returns 52.3mpg on average, farts less with 140g/km of carbon and is more expensive at £18,330. Either way, that's still less expensive than the two-wheel drive Mitsubishi ASX Black. This Skoda is only available in two-wheel drive, though, whilst you can get the ASX Black in four-wheel drive form at an extra cost. If you're a fan of the VW Group's DSG gearbox then you won't like the fact you can't get it in this Yeti.

However, if you're a fan of Pimp My Ride, you'll love the Yeti's latest advert featuring our dawg, X to the Z Xzibit.
