Reventon Spyder Coming?

The Lamborghini Reventon is the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini yet - no doubt the Ferrari Enzo's equivalent for the brand. The Reventon is actually even more exclusive than the Enzo - only 20 examples of the Reventon were built, while Ferrari sold 300 Enzos to collectors around the world.

It appears that Lamborghini is readying a roadster (Spyder most likely) version of the supercar, to make a debut at (where else?) the Frankfurt Auto Show next month, which will have quite a few high-end introductions if varying reports are to be believed.

Rumors have circulated saying that Lamborghini has already showed the car to attendees of a VIP event at the factory in Sant'Agata. The Roadster would be even more exclusive then the Reventon coupe, with nine or ten models being produced. Each car would be sold before production started (and even before the public unveiling, supposedly). Price tag? Try a cool $1,639,993.

It's likely that Roadster was in the works all along to increase the production run. It remains to see if Lamborghini will follow a similar pattern with the Reventon that Bugatti has with the Veyron. To increase production time, Bugatti has introduced many special edition runs of the Veyron that extend beyond the original batch promised. We'll find out son enough if the rumors are true - the Frankfurt Auto Show is next month!
