To commemorate 10 years of the insanely fast, yet very road legal Radical SR3, sports car manufacturer Radical has come up with a special version of the car called the Radical SR3 RS Limited. This lightweight road legal sports car will be on sale soon over in the UK and it will be limited to just 25 units with prices starting at £49,850.
The Radical SR3 RS Limited like most SR3s is powered by a 1340cc Suzuki motorcycle engine that hits out 210bhp. It does so at a very high (for a car, not a motorcycle) 10,500rpm and the power is fed to the rear wheels via a 6 speed sequential gearbox and a Quaife LSD. Being extremely light, around 500kg or so, the Radical SR3 is one of the fastest road legal cars you can buy over in the UK today.
It also features 260x25mm 30-vane ventilated discs front and rear, a high-downforce rear diffuser, a trackday ‘silencing kit’ for those tracks or circuits that have really low sound limits and something called a ‘spares starter pack’. This pack includes spare wheels with wet weather tires, filters and other accessories accessories (lubes & cleaners, brake pads etc). It will also feature three colour options called ‘summer colours’. These are spice yellow, tangerine and rosso red. It will also have as an option a matte vinyl graphics pack for some extra go faster stripes.
I like this spare starter pack. It makes the package very wholesome indeed for those that actually take track days (or amateur racing) seriously. By that I mean those who do not drive their Radicals to the track but load them on a trailer, with a capacious tow car which carries at least a boot load of spares.
Now for those in doubt of its legality, anything that has a road tax disc, 4 wheels, signal indicators and needs to go for a MOT once in a while is a road legal car. This is something which I totally like about the UK. A car like the Radical gets built and gets approved for the road. It’s as close to automotive heaven. Well, aside from GATSOs, potholes, roadworks on the major ring roads & motorways, bus-lanes, London congestion charges and other what nots, that is. Hmm, I’ve made a case against what I’ve just said actually.
