Californian firm Canepa has released stunning timelapse footage of a 917 engine rebuild
The flat-12 that powers the legendary 917 racing car is one of the all time Porsche greats. As such, seeing it meticulously stripped down, restored piece by piece then rebuilt is rather enjoyable.
The work was done by Californian firm Canepa, which owns several 917s, and much more besides.

Ah! the beauty of people restoring valuable engineering jewels instead of changing them with uninteresting, vulgar, everyday LS engines. Don’t get me wrong, LS are good engines, but trashing special engines to use a regular one is insulting for me.
