Porsche 928 GT News

The Porsche-Volkswagen saga seems to be never ending, with constant and conflicting reports about the future of Porsche. VW is in the process of purchasing the brand right now - the question is how that is going to impact Porsche's future product plans.

Some have said Porsche is calling for a dramatic increase in models, some say cuts are actually in the works. The former is the likeliest at this point and if another model is going to happen, a reborn 928 GT seems like a good place to start.

It also makes the most sense from a product development standpoint. The platform for a new 928 could be shared with the recently introduced Porsche Panamera four-door sedan. Rumors are already swirling about other variants off the Panamera platform, like a Cabrio model.

A new 928 GT would be a profitable vehicle, commanding a high price and offering a Porsche alternative to competitors in the segment like the Aston Martin DB9 and Bentley Continental GT. Of all the potential new models Porsche is considering, this one would add to the lineup without compromising Porsche values any further.

The only issue is - styling. The renderings done by AutoExpress are pretty good, but of all I'd say the below image has to be the best I've seen. I searched the internet on who did this design, but can't find it. Hats off to the designer!
