Novitec Tunes the Alfa Romeo MiTo
We've already seen the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA that was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show. I originally thought that was the production launch but after more details came out at the show, it was apparent that it was concept vehicle being shown.
We've already seen the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA that was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show. I originally thought that was the production launch but after more details came out at the show, it was apparent that it was concept vehicle being shown. That said it supposedly was very thinly disguised and is a good representation the production vehicle.
The MiTo is the pretty amazing little car, styled to look like the 8C Competizione. I love it's styling, and I think it makes a good Italian answer to the MINI. However, it has been lacking in performance. Many magazines have reviewed the vehicle and said that, without a sport model, it doesn't live up to the promise it's Alfa Romeo name implies or compete very well with the MINI Cooper S sport models.
Until the GTA is introduced, Novitec's tuning package will have to do. For the standard gas 1.4 litre 4-cylinder, Novitec's kit adds 31 extra horsepower and brings 0-60 time down to 7.4 seconds (.7 faster then the standard MiTo). In addition to a power boost, Novitec offers of the usual appearance package.
Novitec adds spoiler corners left and right, redesigned rocker panels, NOVITEC N8 multi-spoke wheels, a rear roof spoiler and diffuser for the apron. Novitec's sport springs lower the ride height by 40 millimeters. If you ask me, it's looking pretty good! A nice sporty package for the MiTo like it was intended to be. If I had to pick between the MINI Cooper S and this, there's no doubt the MiTo would win.
