No Manual Transmissions For Lamborghini?
Anything you can do, I can do better, I can do anything better than you ... or so says Lamborghini, again. So, it seems that Lambo will not be offering any manual transmissions in the future. Is this a case of simply following good engineering, or simply following Ferrari? Again.

As was mentioned here recently, Ferrari will stop making manual gear boxes when they are done putting them into Spyder Californias. And now comes word that Lamborghini will essentially do the same thing. Now, since it's inception, Lambo has had a chip on its shoulder about Ferrari.
Ever since Ferruccio was made to wait "too long" at il Commendatore's factory, he stomped by to tractor plant, and the sparks have been flying ever since. Sure, Lambo is no "just" a division of Volkswagen (Audi's with better skin, as some would put it), but in the land of Vendetta, old rivalries die hard.
So one could say that this is just Lamborghini following Ferrari yet again, except for the fact that then engineering plays out in favor of this decision, rivalries or no. As much traditional fun as an old style manual box may be, a semi-auto box makes more sense. You never miss a gear, it swaps cogs faster, and the overall performance of the car is improved.
According to sources, Lamborghini’s director of research and development, Maurizio Reggiani, explained that less than 5 percent of Lambo buyers go for a conventional manual transmission. Because of this, so there will be no more manual transmission Lamborghinis.
So what will replace manual those transmissions? Reggiani did not get into specifics, but it was said not to expect innovative dual clutch transmissions as the answer. Lambo seems to be fine with their in-house e-gear sequential automatic. And Reggiani mentioned that Lamborghini’s six-speed box is around 50 pounds lighter than a dual clutch unit. And Lambo is opposed to unequal gear steps. No, he didn't specify why that was either.
Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything Better than you. No, you can't. Yes, I can. No, you can't. Yes, I can. No, you can't. Yes, I can, Yes, I can!
