Mini Roadster Concept Caught

MINI has been in the news a whole lot lately - and for good reason. BMW is counting on MINI to help it increase overall volume without diluting the BMW brand. Part of this includes expanding the model lineup - the recently introduced coupe, roadster and in the future, a crossover. With the introduction of the MINI Coupe behind us, many have wondered what the Roadster would look like. Wait no longer!

It's not a "real life" image, but it's still an official rendering and pretty much what we expected from the Roadster. No surprises here! Edmunds' Inside Line is the one responsible for this scoop. Correspondent Matt Davis attended the MINI's 50th Anniversary party in France.

Members of the media were invited and briefed on planned introductions for the Frankfurt Show and MINI's future beyond that. Some interesting things came of it, right from the company. For one thing, the long-rumored Countryman crossover is coming, but is not being introduced at Frankfurt like has been speculated.

The launch has reportedly been pushed back until early 2010. Regarding the Coupe and Roadster, a MINI spokesman was quoted as saying "both cars (Coupe and Roadster) will be produced for the 2011 model year and both will be available on all our world markets." That's good news for markets around the world who are anticipating the two new models. I still haven't warmed to the Coupe though.....
