This Might Well Be The New Tesla Semi Truck

The big reveal of Tesla’s new semi truck (or ‘lorry’ to us Brits) is over three weeks away, but thanks to an eagle-eyed Reddit user, we’re getting a cheeky, early look.

A photo showing the truck completely undisguised was posted in the Tesla subreddit before being deleted and re-uploaded, and although we can’t be 100 per cent sure it’s the real deal, it certainly looks to match a previous teaser shot. The Reddit user has even had a crack at Photoshopping on the fairing.

This Might Well Be The New Tesla Semi Truck

At the time of the teaser image’s release, Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the incoming truck as a “beast.” The vehicle - due to be revealed on 26 October in Hawthorne, California - is expected to have a range of 200 - 300 miles initially, eventually competing with the 1000 mile ranges commonly achieved by conventional diesel-powered lorries.

The new vehicle forms part of Tesla’s wide-ranging expansion plans, which include releasing a ‘Model Y’ compact crossover plus a pick-up truck, and seriously ramping up Model 3 production.

It must be broke already, as it’s on the back of a flatbed.

Nope.
Diesel is still way better.
Electric shitboxes are always going to be lacking in the sound department.
You just can’t repalace the sound of a high displacement turbo diesel.

  • baterries do not like constant charging and discharging. They will need replacement in about 2-4 years which makes it pointless as you have to do a rebuild after 4 years.

But there’s not going to be oil forever. Best to adapt, and to improve electric vehicles now.

Diesel Semi trucks sound like crap… they’re obnoxious and pointlessly loud. Their sole purpose is to deliver cargo, so why not just make it quiet and efficient?
