Lexus Confirms Launch of GS 350 At Pebble Beach
Despite some impressive, but largely isolated exceptions, being the IS-F and LFA supercar, Lexus has not paid attention to the performance sector. Given its long-running sales success, why should it have thought any otherwise?
Despite some impressive, but largely isolated exceptions, being the IS-F and LFA supercar, Lexus has not paid attention to the performance sector. Given its long-running sales success, why should it have thought any otherwise?
The truth is though, those looking for more fun in their vehicles include a lot of younger buyers, buyers Lexus needs to capture if it hopes to have a future.
With a new generation of cars, Lexus is promising a change in approach. The GS mid-size sedan is our first look at a more engaging driving experience as well as a more defining styling language.
We don't have to wait too long for it either. After some rumors, Lexus has officially confirmed the launch of the new GS 350 sedan at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show in Montery, California next month. The date is August 18th.
Members of the media were invited to California to test the new car recently, and preliminary reviews are coming in favorably. The interior is said to take elements from the LFA supercar.
Lexus vice-president and general manager Mark Templin commented on the new car saying, "Our customers have been waiting for a new GS that's more intense in every way.....they'll soon discover this GS was well worth the wait."
The new GS will have “a more defined and emotional design philosophy featuring a new distinctive front grille and styling cues that will soon be seen on all future Lexus vehicles” We've got a little more than a month to go before launch, but we bet we'll see something before then. Stay tuned.
