Lamborghini Huracan Equals The Gallardo's Production Run In Half The Time

Sant’Agata Bolognese has now built over 14,000 in just five years, matching the number of Gallardo units made in twice that time

What you’re looking at here is Lamborghini Huracan number 14,022, and it’s a little bit special. Oddly, it’s all because of the car’s predecessor - the Gallardo.

14,022 is the number of Gallardo units produced at Sant’Agata Bolognese during the car’s 10-year production run, which lasted from 2003 to 2013. As keen maths enthusiasts will be keen to point out, that means Lamborghini has built as many examples of the Huracan in about half the time. Not bad.

Chassis number 14,022 is a Huracan Evo coupe finished in ‘Grigio Titans’, which is a fancy way of saying ‘grey’. It’s set to be shipped out to South Korea.

The Huracan’s continuing success story is just part of a sales boom for Lamborghini. The company notes that in the first half of 2019, it’s delivered 4553 cars, a huge jump of 96 per cent when compared to the first six months of last year.

1211 of those cars were Huracans, including the last few deliveries of the Performante and initial Huracan Evo orders. The Aventador managed 649 units, meanwhile. That means the remainder - some 2693 cars and way over half the total - will be made up entirely of Urus SUVs. Let’s hear it for 2019, everybody.

The Evo may inject some more life into the Huracan’s share of overall Lamborghini sales, however. It’s packing the same 631bhp version of the Audi 5.2-litre V10 found in the Performante and has adopted a similar all-wheel steering system to its Aventador big bro.

If you could pick one car from the current range (limited-run Sian hypercar excluded), which would you go for?

That’s how we can see that SUV are a good thing for sport brands. Make some money so they can finance sport cars !

Tbh I would still take a first gen Gallardo with a gated shifter over a Huracan

I’d take a Gated manual Gallardo with a Squadra Corse body. The look of those SCs is pure sex
