Jaguar C-Type? AutoExpress Renders
I don't know if you remember, but a while ago there were a lot of reports circulating about a Jaguar competitor to the Porsche Boxter. Under Ford's ownership, with Jaguar ailing, that project was cancelled.
I don't know if you remember, but a while ago there were a lot of reports circulating about a Jaguar competitor to the Porsche Boxter. Under Ford's ownership, with Jaguar ailing, that project was cancelled. Since then there have been speculation whether it would ever surface, and it looks like that could happen under Jaguar's new ownership.
Such a model would have a lot of potential to add a new type of buyers to the Jaguar brand, as well as keep loyal sedan buyers that also have a Porsche Boxter for instance.
Other than the Gran Turismo-style XK, Jaguar hasn't played in the sports category all that much. An XE (AutoExpress calls it C-Type) would change all that. I'm going to refer to it as XE given that was the rumor and that Jaguar is eschewing the "-Type" names for two letter monikers beginning in X. One thing that looks good for such a model is the fact that Ratan Tata, head of Tata Motors, is a fan of sports cars and is looking to Jaguar to expand it's sports car lineup.
The XE is a mix of cues from the C-XF Concept and production XF. If a production car looks like anything this rendering, it would be a big looker. Check out the rear end! I love it. Jaguar absolutely needs to make a car like this! Check out AutoExpress for the front end rendering.
