The new Saab 9-5 has been a long time coming, with Saab enthusiasts eagerly awaiting bits of news and images on the car. Spy shots, renderings - I've covered them all. Saab is a company that has always been different than the usual, having a dedicated core of loyal buyers. Poor management has let the brand languish though, and the new 9-5 was been developed to put Saab back on the map again.

German magazine Autozeitung opened the floodgates for Saab 9-5 information when it broke the 9-5 embargo in it's latest issue. Autobild followed with it's release of images and now Auto Motor Sport follows yet again with the first high-resolution images. When the Autobild released the images, I said I'd let you know when high-resolution images came out, and here they are!

I really like the car's styling. I think it blends all the right Saab cues into one vehicle. I see the Aero X Concept as well as cues from classic Saabs in the roof line. It's not for everyone, but Saabs never are supposed to be - it's what sets them apart.

At a certain angles, the rear looks a bit like the Hyundai Azera but overall the car is unique, forging a new look for Saab. With a whole lineup of new vehicles like the 9-5, Saab could become successful again. Bring on the 9-4X and new 9-3!

In the inside, it's pretty much standard Saab fare - it doesn't break any new ground - but there is some new elements. The 9-5 debuts a new, integrated switchgear setup as well as a new navigation system unit.

Also present is the ambient lighting that GM has used to great effect in vehicles like the Cadillac CTS and 2010 Buick LaCrosse. The color used in the Saab 9-5 is green, setting it apart from the others. Combined with the cool gauge cluster, the look works together for an ambiance similar to a fighter jet. Born from Jets?

I do think the interior would look good in another color than black though- how about a tan and black combination? The black can get monotonous. We'll see different trim combinations and more when Saab releases everything officially. I'll do a full write up with all the specifications and everything when that comes out. Until then, enjoy these high-resolution pictures of Saab's latest and greatest!
