Here's Your First Look At The Revamped, Edd-Less Wheeler Dealers

This new footage gives us a good look at the first series of Wheeler Dealers since Edd China's departure, which sees Mike Brewer team up with Ant Anstead

About six months ago, long-running motoring show Wheeler Dealers was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Edd China had announced he was leaving the show due to its new production company - Velocity - apparently wanting to reduce the legendary mechanic’s in-depth coverage of fixes, effectively dumbing the show down. Immediately following his announcement, Mike Brewer and his family shockingly received death threats.

With the furore over the show’s future now mostly over, we have our first chance to see how it’ll look following Edd’s departure. As announced a few months ago, he’ll be replaced with Ant Anstead - a safe pair of hands who you might have seen on Channel 4’s For The Love of Cars - and in addition to the trailer above, he’s also seen in action in sneak peek footage below.

We don’t know about you, but watching Ant very effectively explain the inner workings of a turbocharger makes us wonder if fears of the show dumbing down are unfounded. We’ll certainly be keeping an open mind until we see the first episode, which airs on Velocity on 4 October.

With the furore over the show’s future now mostly over

I wouldn’t be so sure, seeing the comment section… sigh

I always liked him, but I will never forgive him for the wrap on the RX-7…

For me, his unforgivable sin was buying a 60’s mustang in its original colour that was un-faffed with, saying “People are after these cars in their original, un-modified states”…. And then proceeded to make a Bullitt replica out of it…

Haha oh yeah that was hideous!! And when they asked the guys at the track (Brad and Pip) what they thought of it you could see they were trying not to puke 🤣😣

I liked it, but it’s not Wheeler Dealers without Ed China. Just like Top Gear, no matter how hard they try, it will never be the same.

It’s a shame, wheeler dealers was pretty much the only legit car show out there, everything else in the genre seems to be more about the people than the cars and they all have stupid deadlines and mostly staged and drama stuff

Sad to see wheeler dealers go down the same route, hopefully ed makes his own proper show

This level of expertise is well beyond what Edd China was capable of. This is exactly what we Car Nuts want to see and learn from. I love this

I like Ant, I watched his other show, but WD just won’t be the same without Edd. However I believe that WD will be just like Top Gear - at first people will make a big fuss about it, but after some time they will just move on.

They totally screwed up in getting rid of Ed. Not even going to watch the new show. Mike is a used car salesman not a mechanic. The new guy just does not do it for me. Another producer that screwed up a great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
