Formula E’s first safety car, the Porsche 911-eating BMW i8 was unveiled earlier today at the Donington Park circuit on the final day of testing.
BMW is the official vehicle supplier for the all-electric series, with the inaugural season kicking off in Beijing next month.
The hybrid 2+2 sports car will be joined on Formula E race days by the BMW i3, which was also unveiled as the medical car today. Wireless charging mats will ensure charging efficiency during races.
The new championship will see 20 drivers battle around 10 street circuits - in locations including Miami, Monte Carlo and London - in identical machinery for the first ever Formula E title.
