Here's Why the Maserati Ghibli Is a Terrible Way to Spend $85,000

I drove a Maserati Ghibli, and I discovered that it absolutely isn’t worth $85,000 — or anything close to it. To find out why, read my column, or watch the video above.

I usually agree with his views but this was rubbish! He looked at it like it was a $85,000 Dodge Dart. I understand him saying that it was a rival to a BMW 5 series and in comparison as a value for money sensible review the BMW would be better. But, the BMW is for rich people who don’t care about cars! WHEREAS THE MASERATI IS A CAR FIR PETROLHEADS!!!! The BMW is a $70,000 car you could loose in a car park, the Maserati is different and eligent and interesting!!! It was as though he was being boring and sensible!! ITS A MASERATI!! Don’t be sensible!
P.s. Rant over

He obviously doesn’t understand the whole Maserati thing. It’s not about high quality buttons, driving assistance and Infotainment. It’s not the fastest car in its class. But it’s a car with beautiful styling, awesome engines and an interior with leather all around.
(Maserati, Ferrari, Aston Martin etc always used interior parts from much cheaper cars, it’s nothing new)

Solution: Buy an Alfa Romeo Gulia Quadrofolio. Save $35K too.

Why is it that when people are reviewing cars they always talk about power but never about weight… dont they see the relationship? Different power figures between cars dont tell me much if you dont tell me the weight

What if Maserati was sold to Ferrari, let Ferrari be the one arm selling fast, sporty, supercar coupes and convertibles, while maserati could become the luxury arm - doing the SUV and luxury sedans/ estate/ coupe. Maserati’s quality and profits will improve, bringing in a good stream of revenue. Plus Ferrari can then afford to build more rare hypercars which sell incredibly well, so everybody wins.

Lol almost every assistance he enumerated is in our Ghibli. Many things he says are true, but very many things are completly different now. For example: Assistance, complete infotainment, panel gap, some buttons are different, i have never ever have had a problem with the gear lever, there are completly other much nicer (looking at least) seats, the air-suspension is amazingly comfort but settled down at the same time, the transmission is the quickest automatic ive ever driven (not dsg for sure) and so on…
Ive driven many audis and the maserati (at the same price) is so much better!(And that from a german) Maybe Doug should try the very new one because the car which is there looks like a completly other one that i drove for now about 10.000km. But everyone up to his own. I personally love the 2017 Ghibli but it would be interesting what Doug tthinks about the new one
