Here's A Maybach G650 Landaulet Getting Its Drift On In The Snow

Two German TV stars are given a snowy ride in the poshest of G-Wagens, resulting in sideways antics

With the new G-Class (don’t you miss the ‘G-Wagen’ name?) nearly upon us and the festive season in full swing, it seems appropriate to take a look at this video.

It features the poshest of posh G-Wag… sorry, G-Classes, the Maybach G650 Landaulet. The last bit of the name is a largely forgotten term that refers to a limousine with a convertible rear section, in case you were wondering.

Packing a twin-turbocharged V12, a price was never officially revealed for the vehicle, but the final one did fetch $1.4 million at auction.

Despite the high value, Mercedes itself was happy to send one out for a little drifty fun in the snow. TV stars JP Kraemer and Matthias Malmedie (we gather they’re a little more known in Germany) were taken along for the ride. Closed captions are available with a very vague translation, if wanted…

I think it’s funny that the G-Class used to be named G-Wagen and now people are salty that they dropped the “iconic” name and called it G-Class instead; meanwhile in Germany the car has always been sold as G-Klasse since 1979.

Oh yes, these two are very famous in Germany. Jean Pierre Kraemer and his famous tuning company JP Performance are known pretty much all over the world, and Matthias Malmedie is one of the hosts of “Grip”, which is basically a German counterpart of Top Gear. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen all year, I feel bad for all of you who don’t speak German xD
