Goulding Gets Smashed In A Beetle

Which car would you associate with Ellie Goulding? She's pretty and British, so the Aston Martin DB9 or Rolls Royce Phantom coupe should make her 'starry eyed', right?

Fortunately, none of those cars feature in this video because if they did they would be in pieces as the video shows Ellie and her driver smashing into a truck on a beach. Logically, something like a Volvo V40 would be perfect for that scenario, especially given its pedestrian airbag. But no, the director decided to kill them off with an original Volkswagen Beetle. Call it budget cuts, perhaps...

Unlike today's Beetle, the original (produced between 1938 and 2003) had its engine at the back sending power to the rear wheels. Remind you of anything made today? Ferdinand Porsche was ordered by Adolf Hitler to make a car capable of transporting two adults and three children at 62mph. His grandson, the late Ferdinand Alexander Porsche then took the rear engine, rear drive layout and applied it to the 911.

Five engines were available with the original Beetle ranging from 1.1-litre to 1.6-litre four cylinder boxer units which were air cooled. Today's Beetle has pretty much the same engines you find in the Golf, only at the front.

'Anything Can Happen' is the first single from Ellie's forthcoming album 'Halcyon' which is out on 8th October. The single itself is available to download right now. Check out the video below and let us know what you think of her bottom. Err, I mean, at the bottom...
