Ford Performance nixed the GT’s air conditioning, infotainment system including radio and speakers, storage areas, and even cupholders. Weight is further reduced by subbing out the standard materials in other places with even lighter variations. This includes a Perspex acrylic engine cover with vents and a carbon fibre prop rod, carbonfibre wheels with titanium nuts, a full titanium exhaust, more exposed carbon fibre inside and out, and an even thinner Gorilla Glass front windshield.

Ford Performance has yet to reveal how much weight this package will reduce, nor how it will affect performance. At a tad over 3,000 pounds in base trim, this new package can be expected to weigh in at the high two thousand pound range.

Sounds odd, but with a higher model out the more common and cheaper version is now a base model. LoL

Being carbon fibre, I don’t really think they’re much of a rip off of anything.

I hated the new GT when it came out. Now, every time I look at it, it continually grows on me revealing how wonderful its design really is and the technology and advancements that were poured into it.
