Ferrari 599-based Novitec Rosso 848 RACE
This is the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE, which is based on Ferrari's 599. Now, I could take issue with someone, anyone, out there thinking they could do better than Ferrari with an actual Ferrari, but let's see what we have here.
This is the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE, which is based on Ferrari's 599. Now, I could take issue with someone, anyone, out there thinking they could do better than Ferrari with an actual Ferrari, but let's see what we have here. In short the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE is a twin-supercharged version of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
Only three of the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE models will be built, and they will have their world debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2010. The outside is finished is a rather bland matte white and grey. But in the engine bay is something that is anything but bland: A twelve-cylinder engine with twin compressors that produces 848 hp of power and a peak torque of 842 Nm.
With that sort of plant under the hood, the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE gets from zero to 100 km/h in less than 3.4 seconds, and will hit 300 km/h in just 23.7 seconds, and tops out in excess of 345 km/h. Naturally, the Pininfarina shaped body wasn't good enough (I know I know) so the Novitec Rosso 848 RACE also gets an aerodynamic-"enhancement" kit developed in the wind tunnel.
There's the obligatory wheels, in this case, three-piece 21-inchers with "matching sports suspension", a high-performance brake system and exclusive interior options. The adjustable sports suspension can lift the front of the 599 by 40 mm, which will be nice for getting over speed bumps and the like.
On the inside there's lots of aluminum and carbon fiber accents and there's also an upgraded flat-bottom steering wheel with a switch that opens an additional baffle in the exhaust. You know, because that's no doubt more important that having a swtich on the steering wheel do something else.
Price? Well, turns out that Novitec hasn't released full pricing on the 848 RACE just yet, but sources estimate that it will go for $200k premium over the base Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
