F1 Manager 2024 Announced, Will Finally Let You Create Your Own Team

Since the introduction of the F1 Manager series in 2022, there’s been one thing we’ve been longing for from its in-depth career mode - the ability to create your own team. It’s been a feature of the mainline Codemasters F1 games for a while now, and to see 2023’s entry have such a feature absent was a disappointment. Finally, though, that’s been rectified.

F1 Manager 2024 has just been announced by developer Frontier Games and will finally allow players to start a team from scratch. ‘Create A Team’ promises to be pretty in-depth, allowing you to go a step further than the existing career mode which already lets you manage car development, drivers and staff for existing teams.

Now, you’ll be able to design your own liveries and branding and manage sponsorship deals too as you try to take the 11th team on the grid (sorry, Andretti) to long-term success.

Also new for F1 Manager is a mentality system which aims to bring a sense of personality to both staff members and drivers alike. We’ll have to wait for more detail on how this plays out, but it sounds as though this will be represented by different motivations for success and in the case of drivers, approaches to races.

Frontier promises ‘enhanced’ AI too which it says should close the gap on track and provide more intelligent management by your rivals off it.

In-depth details on new features are pretty watertight for the moment, though the developer has promised it’ll host a live stream on the last Wednesday of each month leading up to the release providing more details.

No word yet on when exactly F1 Manager 2024 will be released, although it’s set to arrive sometime in the summer. 2023 was released on 31 August last year, so we’d expect something in that ballpark this time around too. It’ll be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, priced at £29.99.
