Douchebag Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison After Swerving Into Biker

A Texan who was caught on camera deliberately smashing into an overtaking motorcycle has been handed a hefty prison sentence

Around late 2015, the horrific video above went viral. It depicted Texan William Crum violently swerving into an overtaking motorbike near Granbury, resulting in the rider and a pillion passenger hitting the deck hard.

18 months on, 69-year-old has at last been sentenced for his actions. Despite claiming to have momentarily lost control of the car due to being bitten by a spider (yes, really), Crum has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for “two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,” his lawyer confirmed last week. He’s been behind bars since his arrest on 19 October 2015, shortly after the incident.

While we do - sadly - see videos like this from time to time, this particular crash stood out due to Crum nonchalantly stating “I don’t care” to the following biker who recorded everything on a helmet camera.

Douchebag Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison After Swerving Into Biker

The rider knocked off - 37-year-old Eric Sanders - suffered only minor injuries, but his passenger - 38-year-old Debra Simpson - ended up in intensive care, having suffered a broken arm plus multiple scrapes and bruises.

It’d be remiss of us to not to point out that Sanders was overtaking in a no passing zone with two solid lines in the middle of the road, but illegal or not, it looked like a relatively safe, well-sighted pass. And I’m sure we can all agree that using your car as a deadly weapon is not the right response for another road user’s rule-breaking…

That monster deserves to rot. No matter the stupid actions of the bikers nobody deserves to die for overtaking illegally.

I can’t disagree more. The car driver had no authority to do what he did, but the motorcycle driver was asking for it. People who disregard traffic rules should get time, not just fines.

The double yellow means you should not pass rather than being outright illegal. It ends up being a judgement call if you can pass. Single yellow or white lines are illegal to cross.

A solid yellow on your side means its a no passing zone. So a double yellow is no passing either direction

What the guy did was horrible, and saying that he didn‘t care right after made it even worse. But you have to admit, 15 years is alot, thats longer than i have been alive, this guy will be realesed from prison when he‘s 84 years old, if he even stays alive that long. He might never (if he has any) be able to see his grandchildren again.
To me just seems that 15years is a bit much for what he did.

No one cares about this old fart, who can rot behind bars for all most of us give a rats behind. He nearly murdered those people they would have never see their families again because this old vagina wants to play judge jury and executioner. As a 15 year old I dont know how many people you have had die close to you or go to prison but I’ve had both. I’d rather my loved one in prison rather than dead and for what he did who knows if his grandkids even want to see a monster like that.

I may sound like a big sack of sc*m but did the biker get a fine for overtaking on no passing zone?

(thanks for the down vote whoever you are,I only asked about if he got fined)

No. The state recognized that the motorist was travelling considerably slower than the posted speed limit and considered the pass safe. It’s apparently state law in texas that if someone is traveling more than XXmph below the posted speedlimit it is legal to pass them when safe, regardless of lane markings.

I remember seeing that video a year ago. I’m glad to see that that douchebag got hit by the full force of the law.
