Celebrity Spotting: Chris Evans With His Latest Purchase
We've always been keen to know what the stars use to get from their million pound pad to their workplace or that famous nightclub, especially celebrities that are uber-rich and stupid or the ones that are famous for their acquired taste in cars.
We've always been keen to know what the stars use to get from their million pound pad to their workplace or that famous nightclub, especially celebrities that are uber-rich and stupid or the ones that are famous for their acquired taste in cars. This week, Radio 2 DJ and producer, Chris Evans has been spotted with his latest rare and special Italian machine, a Maserati MC12.
The MC12 was a mark of Maserati's return to the racing world in 2004. It is based on the Ferrari Enzo and has the same 6.0 V12 which produces 621bhp and 481lb ft of torque that takes it from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 205mph which in 2004 was mind blowing and still is an achievement today. It's 13th in the famous Top Gear Power Lap board and beat its Enzo relative around it by 0.1 seconds. It's also quite luxurious for a lightened carbon fibre bodied supercar with gel-like carbon fibre inserts, blue leather all round and special silver 'Brightflex' which is apparently 'too expensive for the fashion industry.'
So how much money did it take from Mr Evans' bank account? Well, as there are only 50 examples out there it would be quite a lot, £412,000 to be exact. Mind you, that's spare change compared to the classic million-pound Ferraris he also owns, such as the Ferrari 250 GTO which cost him £12 Million, and monsters you can buy new today like the Bugatti Veyron and the Pagani Huayra.
What I would like to say to Chris Evans though is you brave, brave man! Leaving something like that on the street outside the Radio 2 studio in Westminster must of been terrifying don't you think? Personally, I'm amazed that it wasn't keyed, torched, towed or stolen. Didn't you see what happened to Jay Kay's Enzo when he parked it at a hotel? Maybe people have more respect for cars like these today, which is very good news indeed. Either that or his parking spot has many cameras and bouncers guarding it.
Those guys there are waiting to see if the breakfast radio king will give them a lift. It looks unlikely.
