Despite being a product of the great Evil Empire, I'm still a fan of Cadillac's CTS-V. It's getting even more desirable for 2011 with the introduction of the 2-door CTS-V Coupe.  We had our first glance at the regular (and surprisingly sexy) CTS Coupe a few months back, and when the Detroit Show starts up in full on the 16th we'll be able to see what one with a whole ton of horsepower looks like!

There's not really anything particularly shocking about the CTS-V Coupe, but we should still be thankful that such a car exists in today's eco-greenie-weenie environment.  Dimension-wise, it's almost identical to the sedan - same wheelbase, same 556bhp supercharged 6.2L LSA V8, same 6-speed Tremec TR6060 or 6-speed automatic, same huge brakes...  only it's all wrapped in a sexier, much less useful package.  This is more like Cadillacs of the old days - an unapologetic pleasure machine for those with the means to afford it.

Dimensionally, the only difference with the sedan is an inch-wider track in the rear and a higher beltline for the windows.  The Coupe isn't noticeably lighter than the sedan, so don't expect it to be any faster than the (admittedly already ridiculously fast) sedan.  I would expect it to pull a few more stares rolling down the avenue, and really isn't that what a sexy low-slung coupe is all about?  I especially love those HUGE twin center-exit exhaust pipes.  Yum.

No details on pricing yet, or really anything about standard equipment, MPG numbers, expected availability, or anything else important.  Which kinda suits the CTS-V - a pointless, glorious car deserves a pointless press release with a bunch of pretty pictures shot on a racetrack.  Stay tuned for more info!
