2010 Volkswagen Golf Estate

Volkwagen's been one busy company lately. They're revamping their entire Golf lineup to improve refinement and reduce overall build cost as they transition to the MKVI, and the latest update is to the Golf Estate - known in the US as the Jetta Wagon.

The updates are pretty minimal, to be honest.  The front end has been swapped for the new, narrow-eyed MKVI front end already seen on the regular Golf.  Around back, the taillights have been tweaked for added newness, and the lower body panels are painted body-color.  Err, and that's about it.

Of course, the interior has been completely redone with the new MKVI dash layout and gauges, which I think is a nice look.  And the Jetta Wagon's still got 1,495L of maximum storage capacity, which is quite healthy for a small wagon.

As for mechanical changes, there's a new fuel-efficient 1.6L common-rail turbodiesel with 105bhp in the lineup now.  Engine choices are quite broad: they start with a 122bhp 1.4L twin-charged gas motor, along with two turbodiesels- the new 1.6L as well as a 140bhp 2.0 TDI.  Next year, the wagon will be available with more gas engines of varying outputs as well as the 2.0 TFSI I4 from the GTI, whichs should make for one fun wagon.

With a wide range of available powertrains, handsome looks, and lots of load capacity the Jetta Wagon/Golf Estate is sure to be a big hit.  If it ain't broke, why fix it?
