We Can't Unsee These Rendered Legends Wearing Their Ancestors' Faces
There’s a lot of car art on the Internet and it doesn’t take long to dig up all kinds of imaginary sports cars, futuristic SUVs or even something combining existing models. What we’ve brought together here is an oddball list of current and past cars wearing the faces of their predecessors.
We’re going down the rabbit hole, here. From a Nissan GT-R with a Skyline R34’s face to the outgoing 911 GT3 RS with the nose from a 996-era 911, some of these look like they were meant to be. Most, in fact, are surprisingly cool. Maybe car designers know a little about what they’re doing, after all…
Ferrari 812 Superfast and 599 nose
This combination of 812 Superfast body and classic 599 face is so right that we can’t believe it was ever made any other way. This, for us, is the most natural fit on this list and you’d almost never know it wasn’t meant to be exactly like this.
BMW E92 M3 and E46 M3 nose
Both the E46 and the E92 were awesome cars in their own right, the older car with its screaming straight-six, perfect proportions and timeless design, and the E92 for one of the finest V8s ever put into a BMW. Putting the E46 face on the E92 body just works.
Nissan Silvia S15 and S13 nose
Another one that could easily have been made like that in the first place is this blend of S15 and S13 Nissan Silvias. Maybe the nose comes across a little too long, but it’s a proper slice of the 1990s. For more old Nissan kicks, try this near-standard 200SX…
Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS and 911 (996) nose
The 996 Porsche 911’s worst feature was its headlights, ironically sketched to move away from the round design that had come in for a lot of criticism for never changing. They just weren’t very pretty. That’s why we can’t love this mash-up of a 2018 GT3 RS (not the newest one) and the limp front end from a 996.
Volkswagen Golf GTI MkV and Golf GTI MkIV nose
We stared at this for ages before deciding that no, actually, we don’t hate it. We love it! The poised, taut body of the fifth-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI looks slightly at odds with the old, slightly frumpy nose of the MkIV car, but this one really grew on us.
Nissan GT-R and Skyline R34 nose
Well, this is a match made in heaven. The GT-R R35’s body looks so right behind the classic good looks of the Skyline R34’s face. We demand that Nissan builds it, immediately!
New Toyota Supra and Supra (A80) nose
You couldn’t say that the soft, slightly bulbous nose of the A80-era Toyota Supra was a totally natural fit on the body of the all-new one, due for a proper reveal in production form later this year, but it still has presence. It also looks superb in racing spec. This could be another grower…

The Porsche looks great as well. Idk you mean by the Porsche looks like any other.
S13/5 looks sick and so does the 991/996.
The 812 and Supra looks perfect, and the M3 looks just the same
All of them have their own characteristics, and you’re right, Matt, some looked good, some are ok. I don’t know about yall, but the porsche looked so damn nostalgic…A classic case of old school meets new school. Its just savage and sharp. I dig!! as well as the supra and golf
