SEMI SLICK tyres on street car??
Hello CT peeps. I’m looking to have some semi-slicks on my street car (we dont have a proper race track where i live) and my car is more like a week end car rather than a daily driver. I want to have more fun.
What are the main drawbacks of having semi slick tyres? heard they may damage some parts(axle, and engine mounts due to heavy launching? and are pretty rough. are they? In general ofc.. not a specific brand.

Higher stress on transmission and suspension, also inability to work properly when cold (I.E. not racing), or in the rain. The wear is very fast too.
They’re Kuhmo KU36’s in the picture aren’t they? Those tyres in particular are designed for street and track, you won’t do damage but they’ll wear quicker than ordinary tyres.
The only real issues you’ll have is your more expensive tires wearing more quickly due to the softer compound and, likely, less traction in the wet. (what Igor said). I would imagine Any added stress to the car itself will be negligible. It’s not like you’re putting a locker in it.
I wouldn’t worry about the stress from better tires too much as long as you don’t drive like a bat out of hell all the time. I run race slicks on my car for lapping days and haven’t had any issues with regards to wear. Only drivetrain issues I could see arising is more if you’re excessively launching the car. I would recommend upgrading other things as well to make the best use of the tires (good strut/spring combo or coils, sway bars, bracing, upgraded bushings, etc). Just keep on top of everything and check for parts wearing out and you should be fine. The bigger issue is the treadwear of tires like that, they don’t last long and they’re expensive.
But those vredestein look damn nice though :P
when i bought my car i had these on it. great tires and i do miss them sometimes but they are horrible in the wet
they wear out pretty quick
Those dont look like semi-slicks at all, they look like ultra high performance summer tire, which I run year round and they work great, even in rain. I run nitto nt555s
