Let me introduce to you: Engineered to Slide

Let me introduce Nigel Petrie. Nigel Petrie is a driver and a damn good one at that, but he is probably more famous for his exploits as a vehicle builder and fabricator. Nigel has a full time job as a “prototype vehicle machinist”, but still spends hours almost every night in his garage working on any one of his many toys, from drift cars, to motorbikes and trailers as well as anything else he can get his hands on.

I spend 90% of my time thinking about cars, bikes and anything built from steel and rolling on wheels - Nigel Petrie

Maybe you’ve seen some pictures of his 180SX

He built it quit a while ago but keep working on it to find the perfect drift car, but it quit never was enough for him. So, he put himself up with the task to build exactly that.

I really understand everything about the cars I drive because I built and understand every piece on them - Nigel Petrie

This is the best thing I have seen. A lot of other things here are very impressive but they are built by professionals not a guy in his back shed. This is just absolutely amazing - Hiroki “Sleepy” Furuse

What makes this comment have even more of an impact is the fact that “Sleepy” was also the team manager for the NISMO GT3 team in the UK so he would have seen a bit we imagine.

I am not confident enough to put it into competition yet, so for that I will still use my trusty red 180SX. But I will certainly be out to put on a show for the crowd. In fact that is what I will probably end up using it for as it is not really compliant with many of the drift competition rule sets around the world. I just built it because I wanted to and now I want to enjoy it - Nigel Petrie

It all started as a way to save money so I could head to the race track more often, but now working on cars has progressed to building them from the ground up. I get immense satisfaction knowing I have built the car to work how I like it. - Nigel Petrie

What a man he is, and truly an inspiration for all of us
