Has anyone here changed the intake boot on his/her E30 ?

I have a crack on it, so I’m looking to replace it. Should I try doing it myself, or safely (and surely expensively) bring it the the mechanics ?

I did it to mine years ago. Its very easy since the new boot is new rubber and very flexible. Do it yourself.

That’s what I thought, thanks. Why didn’t you go for a silicone one ?

You could duct tape it in the mean time… It actually works if done right. Temporary solution tho :)

I have done similar fix yesterday on my M54, the part was CCV return hose (breather tube, Entlüftungsrohr).

I ordered the part, in the mean time I pulled it out (after the air filter, unscrewed Servo fluid container, pulled a few sensor wires, got a few scratches) and ductaped the sheet out of it :D

Did today 150km (100miles), no probs.

If you have any idea how to use a ratchet and a screwdriver, do it yourself (DIY) ;)

The above was the first time I did anything under a car bonnet, until now I only fixed my bicycle, but I like to say I am a handy person. ;)
