1998 Porsche 911 GT1 by Maisto (1/18 Scale)

Thanks to the new feed algorithm, I was reminded of this great community! Die Cast models is what really brought my passion for cars into the stratosphere, and I’ve been collecting since before I could walk thanks to my dad. I’m excited to start sharing some of my collection with all of you!

First is one of my personal favorites; a 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 by Maisto. This model was from their early days, back when their models when Maisto was a much more credible brand of die cast models. The quality of the parts and mold, and the attention to detail of their earlier cars were comparable to recent Kyosho brand model cars in my opinion. It’s a shame that the brand, in recent years has devolved into one more concerned with quantity, and price. While I can continue waxing on about how their current models no longer appeal to the more serious collector, and just be critical of them overall, I must say that they play a great role to the collector scene. They’re a wonderful introduction for younger collectors, or anyone just entering the often intimidating world of die cast collecting.
