Peugeot 106 rear engine, RWD build
I realised I uploaded only a few pictures of the build of my peugeot and i still wanted to share it in more detail.
I bought the car as a car to fool around with in the backyard, because it wouldn’t pass APK (MOT) anymore, it had play in the wishbone, rusted sills and many more faults i can’t remember. Otherwise it would have gone to the scrapyard.
One very unfortunate evening steam started coming out of the engine bay, whithout being in an accident. After some looking it seemed that a poorly designed water hose (that was placed next to the exaust manifold) was leaking. There was a heatshield installed inbetween but it didn’t have enough clearance anymore.
The hose was so unattainable i decided to pull the engine out. A proper mechanic could have probably fixed it with the engine in place, but i already had the idea of putting it back in another place eventually. When the engine was out, i made definitive plans to make it RWD. Also being very inspired by the marvelous Project Binky.
I built a jig thingy that resembles the engine mounts and the suspension, and also bought a pile of bits, another set of wishbones and struts to instal in the rear.
After that it was a matter of cutting a great hole in the back of the car and putting the jig in place and make sure everything was level.
Then it was time to put some steel back in place and hope it would clear all of the components…
After the suspension was installed and it stood on his own wheels again, i could fit the engine. I didn’t trust the engine mounts on the jig at first, but it all seemed to be right.
After imagining and realising the engine mounts, i painted the lot. And i also added two adjustable pushrods, so the rear wheel could be alligned correctly.
After that i connected all the controls and water hoses from the front of the car to the engine.
Then a diesel tank, that was re-engineerd later bacouse the welds were a bit leaky.
When everything was done it was time for the first startup. i was very nervous but everything worked perfectly!
I enjoyed the build a lot. It took about 2-3 months of my spare time, but it was worth it. I managed to pull off some drifts on sand, it’s awesome to be able to learn to drift like this! I hope to come across more project like this in the future.
If anyone is being confused by the french license plate, it was imported.
If there are any grammar or spelling errors, please correct me because english is not my first language and i’m still learning it.
Thanks for reading!

Thats awesome
Thanks!
That’s crazy! :D I would never even think about that, but you proved you can do anything if you really want. Congratz. :-)
Thanks, it was a matter of imagination :)
WHOREY SHET
You had me at Peugeot. This is badass. Imported from France to where? Cuz I would import a French in a heartbeat.
To the Netherlands, the owners used to live nearby but moved to France and drove this car a few years and when I heard it would be scrapped I decided that it deserved a better ending
This is really awsome. I love to see people work with such enthusiasm on their cars!
Nice porsche (jk) id love to build a peugeot
Nice job. I like your work.
I had idea like that but with Škoda Octavia (or something like that).
I don’t think the base car matters a lot, as long as it has a transverse engine it would work I guess. Although a saloon would be a lot more difficult since there is less room for the struds. Thanks!
This was a good read
Can it do wheelies? Also, do you know of any Peugeot-meetings in NL?
It can’t do a wheelie unfortunately, when I launch it hard it has just wheelspin. I’m guessing the weight distribution is around 65-35, but I want to weigh it once. And I’m not shure about Peugeot meetings in the netherlands, Google is your best friend ;)
That is brilliant
