The Mercedes SLC Final Edition Says Goodbye To The Roadster Once Known As SLK

With a Mercedes not working on a replacement for the SLC, the new Final Edition is true to its name

The Mercedes SLC won’t be around for much longer. Mercedes isn’t working on a replacement for the car formerly known as the SLK either, making this new SLC Final Edition especially poignant.

It’s finished in Yellowstone, the launch color used for the original SLK way back in 1996. And it’s a good match for the latest version of the folding hardtop roadster, don’t you think?

The Final Edition uses an AMG Line-trimmed SLC as a starting point, which means you have fancier front and rear bumpers, bigger brakes and lower sports suspension. Along with the special colour, it’s been given ‘Final Edition’ lettering under the side gills, on the headrests of the seats and on the floor mats.

Also on the inside you’ll find ‘alpaca grey’ stitching and seatbelts, and some aluminium and carbon trip pieces. Final Edition cars also include the ‘Airscarf’ neck heater as standard, so there’s no excuse for leaving the roof up if it’s a little chilly outside.

The Final Edition can be bought with a 1.6-litre inline-four turbo as an SLC180, a 2.0-litre inline-four turbo badged as either SLC200 or 300 and finally in twin-turbo V6 AMG SLC 43 trim. Opt for the latter, and you’ll have 383bhp to play with, making 0-62mph possible in 4.7 seconds.

The SLK used to be a good car. The SLC is incredibly outdated and purely crap. Axing it makes sense considering every single other rival is better and more popular and has been for a while.

There is inconsistent spelling in the article, color and colour are both used.

However this baby roadster is too heavy for what it’s supposed to be.
