Well… M3 0-100 6,7s, top speed: 235 km/h (146 mph). Camaro 0-100 8s, top speed 220 km/h (137 mph). I think torque was not enough.

and it devides it’s power through a smaller crank degree than the 6 cylinder engine, so overall I would go for the v8…

They’re also comparing a BMW motor that’s 30hp away from full race spec to the slower v8 camaro. Same year has a 275 hp 5.7 liter LT1 v8. The 305 or whatever the base v8 is is garbage

E92 M3 V8, 420 HP ish. LS3 C6, 436 HP. Cool. Vette smokes the M. But I love them both.

That is until you look at the M3’s real power figure, not the official BMW one…

Why compare the Vette to the M3 ? not even in the same class of cars. Compare the Camaro to the M3. 2008 M3 4.0L V8 420HP; 2010 Camaro SS 6.2L V8 426 BHP. Pathetic.

in 2000…:The E30 is 1986 and in Evolution 2 it has 230 hp so that`s the impressive one

08/25/2015 - 23:07 |

Or 240 on the s2000

show me that early / mid 80’s honda that has that kind of engine. First type R Civic had was inrtoduced at 97 and it had 1.6 liter 150hp, and Civic from 80’s had at best 1.6l 158hp engine. (impressive I must agree)
Accord had 2.0 litre engine 160hp at best,
Prelude had 2.0 litre 150hp at best
Integra had 1.6 118hp at best.

If you want to compare cars from different decades, should we compare 2015 corvette to honda S600? I wouldn’t call that fair match in anyway, S2000 to Corvette from 50’s just as much fair. and result in both cases are obvious. I’d say if you want to compare something, stick with something rather similar from about the same era. giving 15+ years of advantage for one or the other just voids the comparison.

lol this made me laugh, but also take in the equation that the M3 was made long time after the Camaro so its kinda not fair, and also they’re German so ofc they are also overall better in making cars.. Just the way it is !

What are you talking about? The BMW E30 M3 was built 1985-1992, and the third generation Camaro was built 1982-1992. Unfair? I think not

I think IROC Z cars had TPI and made 215-245 hp. The LO3s and LB9s had TBI and made 170-190

Well here’s the deal with the old muscle car engines:Peak hp 3800-4200 rpm2 valve per cylinder non overhead camLow compression 8.0:1 and in some cases less.
These days they rev a little higher and in fords case are 4 valve dohc high revving
