Marcos Engineering-Part 3: The briefest of comebacks... #Blogpost

Welcome CTzens to the final part of my history on Marcos Engineering! I just want to say, thank you so much for your support to my posts and I hope to continue for years to come…
Without further ado lets begin…

2002-2007 The foreign backing

Just 2 years after Marcos went into it’s second period of voluntary liquidation,Canadian Tony Stelliga decided to pull the sportscar marque out of financial trouble. Jem Marsh was brought back as Vice-Chairman and work began on a Sportscar for the new milennia…
In 2002 the Marcos TS250 was launched as a two-seater sportscar,it was powered by a 2.5L Ford V6 producing 175bhp. The following year the TS500 was introduced bearing a 5L Rover V8,this produced 320bhp and both models were sold for under £40,000…

A year after the TS500 the new TSO was introduced with the Chevrolet 5.7L V8 producing 350bhp in basic form with 420bhp in its top “GT” trim in 2004. Prodrive completed the engineering for the TSO chassis which handled wonderfully… It also featured on Top Gear in 2004,tested by Richard Hammond in range topping GT trim and he praised it highly for it’s soulful character.

In 2005 the GT2 trim for the Marcos was launched for the European market, this was because the GT was exclusive to Australia so the GT2 was built to European regulations. 2006 brought along the TSO GTC,a modified GT2 with racing suspension, brakes and a rear diffuser. Along with the standard 420bhp,a performance pack was offered for the GTC which raised power to 462bhp and the 0-60 time brought down to 4.1 seconds. The GTC could achieve a top speed in excess of 185mph…

Suprsingly in 2007 Marcos went yet again into voluntary liquidation with poor sales of the TSO. Only seven TSO’s were produced before this unfortunate event and it has been in this state for ten years…
The rights to the Marcos name were bought out in 2010 by a man called Tony Brown and in turn formed Marcos cars Ltd. Since then a prototype V6 mid-engined sportscar, dubbed “Spirit 220”, bearing the Marcos badge has made numerous appearances from 2013…

There is still hope yet…

So to conclude I would yet again like to thank everyone for supporting these posts and continue to do so for a while. In my opinion I hope Marcos is truly brought back by Tony Brown and we can finally see the age old battle of TVR Vs. Marcos which would be a sight to behold…

Co-founder of Marcos Jem Marsh recently passed away in 2015,I wonder what he’d be thinking right now if he were still around…

Thanks for reading my history on the Marcos, until next time, goodbye…
