The best car configurators!
A lot of us who are car addicts love cars and we love making them to our tastes down to the tee. But there aren’t actually that many configurators/customizers that are very extensive. Many people know configurators as the things you would spec your vehicle with on the manufacturer website but there are some that add much more interesting and cool stuff that you could spend hours customizing and perfecting. These configurators have a large amount of detail and will let you customize to your heart’s desire. Here are just some of the best car configurators!
I will leave a link to all of these configurators at the end.
3DTuning
Many people know what this is but for those who do not, 3DTuning is one of the most detailed and has the most variety when it comes to car choices and customization. Now before you judge it for being a rice simulator, it is very very intricate with many parts ranging from body kits to roof racks. You can change almost everything about the car and even lower it and add under glow. (Nostalgia of NFS Underground Intensifies)
Formacar (Available on Android and IOS)
Formacar, although not as intensive in customization it is still highly detailed for a mobile configurator. You can choose from a variety of cars, from a Koenigsegg Regera to a Nissan Maxima you can stance it add camber, add a big wang the list goes on. One thing to note is that you need a decent phone (not too old and enough RAM and Memory) to run it, and for those of you running on limited data and connections, this requires some sort of internet connection to work.
LamboCars
This configurator is a little more brand specific, LamboCars is an enthusiast site where you can customize nearly every current generation Performance Lamborghini. It isn’t nearly as intricate and in-depth as the other two configurators but it still takes the cake for being highly detailed and well done. You can apply decals, change the paint, change aesthetic body parts, and even change the interior!
Note: there is an option to save your build but you need to be a member to do that and I think it costs money, so if you want to save your build try taking a screenshot with your device and crop it down later.
Fun Fact: Lamborghini has an actual program for customizing your own Lamborghini, it is called AdPersonam, you can customize your Lamborghini from basic colors to full body kits. (Such as the Aventador J) Ferrari also has a similar program going on except it is more more expensive and you need to be in good ranks with Ferrari to do something that custom.
Before I go on, please note that the configurators that I am listing now are the manufacturer websites but they are some of the best and most detailed manufacturer configurators.
- Ferrari
Ferrari has made one of the most in-depth configurators for a manufacturer site. There is a wide range of options for every car that is currently on sale (Unfortunately you cannot configure a LaFerrari ;~;)
- Porsche
As of the moment, there are 23 Porsche 911 models and counting, each one is configurable with a nearly endless amount of details. I spent more than half an hour picking every option a dream Porsche 911. Obviously, this applies to every other Porsche model in terms of details and options.
(Easter Egg: There is a Porsche 918 configurator, however a while ago it stopped showing the image of the configured car. You can however, choose and see what options there were for nearly every aspect of the car)
- McLaren
McLaren also does this really well, although not as many options as Ferrari or Porsche, they still have a wide range of aesthetic options. As of the moment, you can configure a 570 (+variations) and a 720S, unfortunately, the 650S configurator is no longer available and you cannot configure a P1 or a Senna.
- Mercedes Benz
Mercedes, similar to Porsche, has a never-ending amount of options and trims of their cars. From base models to AMG s, to the basic C Class Sedans to the mighty AMG GT-R, there are many options and choices available for your ultimate dream spec Mercedes.
Note: Obviously Luxury brands usually have a whole slew of options but most luxury brands don’t have this much depth, such as Audi’s configurator.
- Aston Martin
Aston Martin similar to Porsche, is a luxury performance brand, with a wide range of colors and options, a truly elegant presentation.
Honorable Mentions,
Ford GT Configurator
Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro Configurator
Acura NSX Configurator
Jaguar F Type Configurator
Bentley Configurator
Links: Before you go clicking, to find the configurators you may have to do some poking around on the website and depending on where you live it may or may not be as in-depth. These are US links to the United States websites for the manufacturer websites. Every configurator listed will have a link. These links work as of Tuesday January 30th 2018.
Except for Formacar (just look it up on your device’s app store).
Also, you may have to copy and paste the link into the search bar. (Becuz I am too lazy to make each and every link a specific link content box)

Tjeu02 Unfortunately there isn’t any Lotus configurator ;~;
How about S-Tuner?
I know that one I have tried to figure out a little information on that but it doesn’t seem to work with my computer, I have a pretty up to date and good computer.
STuner will work on as long as you have ‘request access first’ turned off on your Adobe Flash Player settings- I used it on an old Chromebook once.
Thanks for the advice!
You forgot Rolls-Royce’s . . . it’s epic.
