Watch A Demolition Arm Pluck A Navara From A Quake-Hit Multi-Storey Like A Toy
Being told your car is technically scrap despite it being undamaged must be tough. Watching as demolition machines retrieve it and then drop it upside down onto a pile of rubble must be excruciating.
Nine owners were forced to abandon their cars in a cinema complex’s multi-storey car park in Reading, New Zealand, after the building suffered critical damage during an earthquake in November.
Presumably the relevant insurance companies have paid out, but that won’t lessen the pain felt by the owner of this Nissan pickup, which was parked against the outer edge of the building. As the claw reaches in and grabs on at the bulkhead behind the engine, you already suspect it’s not going to be repairable.
But then dropping it upside down and watching its slightly crumpled body roll slowly back over onto its wheels isn’t nice. We bet it still runs, though.

“looks like it wasn’t…” -puts glasses on- “picked up”
Sorry, it was super lame….
He sure must be ‘nissan his truck
I’d hate to be the guy to tell the owner “Sir we just dropped your truck from a several story car park”
I think they did say it before, because the owner should know that stuf
Must be a BMW. The driver lost it for 6 months!!
“how cute”
I was gonna type something related to that but meh.
There was once a pickup truck that fell of a demolished building
It was called the Toyota Hilux.
Someone needs to invent a robot that goes into the building and gets in the car using the key and drives it out to safety, it would also need to learn to drive a manual.
Tesla seems to have came up with something.
If you pay me enough, I might do it.
Nothin’ but a scratch
R.I.P. Navarra
if it runs that truck will be the hilux son
Kiwi here want to know the worst part the owner of that car is only just getting payed out now. Since the car wasn’t destroyed till now it wasn’t considered damaged by our insurance companies until the building fell on it.
