Update on the Acura NSX

Acura is definitely in a difficult place right now. It's struggling to have a true identity in the competitive luxury field. Honda has set high goals for it but is apparently not following through on giving the brand the tools it needs to succeed.

Acura is definitely in a difficult place right now. It's struggling to have a true identity in the competitive luxury field. Honda has set high goals for it but is apparently not following through on giving the brand the tools it needs to succeed. I don't see FWD vehicles cutting it if it wants to really compete with Mercedes and BMW (and that goes for Cadillac). If it doesn't want to, that's fine - but then go after Lexus or something.

The NSX was an amazing (and out of character) vehicle for Acura. It put Acura's name up there with true supercars, V6 power and all - a car befitting of the higher aspirations that Acura had. What happened? It was left to die with no replacement.

Audi has the R8, Lexus is readying the LF-A, BMW has had the Z8 in the past and is rumored to be producing another supercar.  It seems as if Acura is very confused about what it wants to do with it's former entry in this segment.

They let the car die originally, then introduced the Advanced Sports Car Concept which supposedly was previewing the replacement, Now all we've gotten is a confirmation that the NSX is indeed coming, with the most of the R&D work done but delays due to designers disagreeing about the car's styling. Wow, that is an interesting reason for a car's delay! I don't think I've ever heard that one before!

In the middle of the confusion there are a few things we know not to expect. A V8 or V10 is a no go, because the new head of Honda doesn't want it. Also, don't expect the styling to live up to the original - reports say it will be a front-mounted engine, not mid-engined like before. Another key thing about the new NSX, Acura says it will be an "attainable halo." Supercar? Nope, try a Nissan 350Z competitor. Welcome to the NSX, LeftlaneNews is offering us a glimpse below.
