Tata Debuts Nano EV Concept At Geneva

Well, here it is all you global warming deniers, guys who think that Ralph Nader is some sort of Communist plot to take away your God-given Hemi, gearheads who think that "the libruls" are going to force you to drive a hideous little car with no power and no fun: The Tata Nano EV Concept.

Well, here it is all you global warming deniers, guys who think that Ralph Nader is some sort of Communist plot to take away your God-given Hemi, gearheads who think that "the libruls" are going to force you to drive a hideous little car with no power and no fun: The Tata Nano EV Concept.

Tata has been rumored to be working on an EV version of the Nano since the day they announced the car. The normal version has been almost universally reviled by the carraratti, and wholly embraced by the greenies, granola munchers, neo-Luddite techno-lovers et al.

Yes, yes car wonks. The one world socialist/communist/fascist government will soon be mandating that you HAVE TO purchase a Tata Nano EV once you've turned over your beloved _______ to be crushed. They will also be insisting that you drive your Tata Nano EV to your compulsory anger-management oneness sessions at the Love Ministry.

But don't worry, Tata Motors promises no settlements in the way the EV version will drive compared to the regular 600cc Nano. The (ingeniously named) Tata Nano Electric Vehicle (EV) will be built on the existing Nano platform, will seat four adults, but will have "super polymer lithium ion batteries" instead of that nasty old internal combustion engine.

No word on "power", but Tata warns acceleration times of 0-60 kilometers per hour in under 10 seconds and a range of 160 kilometers (99 miles). Please note, gentle readers, that they are stating that's zero to 60 km/h, not 60 miles per hour. Now-now. Think of your power animal, and go to your place of calming. There. Isn't that better?

Tata says they will put the Nano EV into production and will sell it alongside the company's Indica (?!) Vista EV, which will go on sale in Europe later this year. This seems completely do-able, since they have already begun development on their Nano Europa. The Nano Europa will go on sale (in Europe) in a couple of years.

So, the not so wild-eyed speculation is that the Nano EV could join the Nano Europa in showrooms at launch. Price? Tata didn't mention that during the Geneva interment.

Suck it, pigs.
