The Corvette has proven itself to be extremely versatile in lending itself to the underpinnings of custom coachbuilt creations. There have been many that have based off the Corvette like N2A Motor's 789 and Anteros, Bertone's Mantide and many more. The newest one to join the fray is Superior Glass Works a company that has been in business for over 30 years serving "street rodders, drag racers, customizers and restorers".

The original, classic Corvette is so much different then the modern Corvette of today that it seems a funny contrast. Not to mention a wagon? There would be an outrage from Corvette fans today if GM were to attempt something like that. However, GM did back in 1954 Motorama.

It was called the Nomad, and was styled to look like the Corvette. The platform was however, based on a standard Chevrolet chassis. GM later put this concept into production as the Nomad we all know, however without any of the Corvette styling of the concept.

The 54' Sport Wagon is manufactured in the state of Oregon with hand-laid composite, reinforced with a stout steel sub-structure, and the body includes a complete set of custom-crafted window glass and chrome trim.

Superior Glass Works thinks it has a winning product in recreating that concept with it's 54' Sport Wagon. How neat is it that they're doing what GM never did? If you're interested, be prepared to fork over a pretty penny though: a delivered price of $125,000 for the Corvette C5-based wagon. Only 25 examples are to be built; a $50,000 deposit secures your place.
