Still Hope for Saab? Spyker Extends Offer Deadline

Saab's dead one minute, Saab's not the next. Let's just split the difference - it most definitely is hanging on by a thread. Just after the automotive world (and Twitter - Saab trended) began to mourn the loss, Spyker has made a vigorous effort to save the brand.

Saab's dead one minute, Saab's not the next. Let's just split the difference - it most definitely is hanging on by a thread. Just after the automotive world (and Twitter - Saab trended) began to mourn the loss, Spyker has made a vigorous effort to save the brand.

Spyker was the remaining bidder in the process, but the company's bid didn't meet General Motors'  requirements. As such, Spyker submitted a 11th hour bid of - you guessed it - 11 points, each one addressing GM's concerns. GM was given until Monday (today here in the U.S) at 5 PM Eastern Standard Time. No hurry!

But,  Spyker has seen fit now to extend the validity of the offer in order to give GM more time to consider it. Go Spyker! They are truly mounting an impressive effort for the brand - they are going out of their way in an attempt to purchase.

Spyker is a brand that I have always admired - (C8 Aileron yes) and it would be excellent to see them have a chance at fixing Saab. Who would have thought? Here is what Spyker's Chief Executive Officer Victor R. Muller had to say about the purchase:

"Our efforts are based on our passion for saving an iconic brand that we would be honoured to shepherd, and the jobs and livelihoods of thousands of loyal Saab employees, suppliers and dealers around the world. Some 1,500,000 Saabs are on the road today and their proud owners would no doubt welcome the survival of this phenomenal brand," he added."

Let's hope their efforts aren't in vain - they are clearly interested. Go Spyker!
