Spyker Pays for Saab Early, McLaren Announces U.S Dealers and Mercedes Drops CL Promo Video

General Motors and Spyker finalized the details of the sale of Saab months ago, but in business transactions can take months, even years to complete.

General Motors and Spyker finalized the details of the sale of Saab months ago, but in business transactions can take months, even years to complete. The second and final installment of the Saab purchase price was due on July 15th, but Spyker has paid the $24 million payment nearly two weeks early.

Might seem like a small gesture, but it shows a willingness to go above and beyond what is required on Spyker's part.

Good things are finally in motion as well for Saab - the company is preparing a large launch for the 9-5, and is crafting a plan to sell high-dollar Spyker models in Saab dealerships. SO, can we finally call the Saab sale saga officially over and done with? Yes - and doesn't that feel good?

McLaren is also announcing that it is moving forward on a retail network for the new MP4-12C supercar, announcing the first six of ten dealers in the United States. If you'll remember, in May the company announced locations for 35 dealers around the world. The U.S locations are listed as follows:

· McLaren Beverly Hills: The Auto Gallery · McLaren Chicago: Lake Forest Sportscars · McLaren Dallas: Park Place · McLaren Greenwich: Miller Motorcars · McLaren San Francisco: Price Family Dealerships · McLaren Tampa Bay: Dew Luxury Motor Cars

In addition, New York has been selected as the location for the company's U.S  headquarters, with operations including sales, marketing, aftersales and North American retailer development. McLaren plans to announce the MP4-12C's final price in September, with a final MSRP expected to be in the $225-250,000 range.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the latest of its wares in the upper end coupe segment, the refreshed CL-Class. It looks like rumors of a name change to S-Class Coupe were incorrect, or at least premature, as the car is sticking with its perennial CL nameplate. The car receives styling tweaks, but perhaps most importantly - a big change in the engine department.

The CL550 4-Matic gets a bump of a 47 horsepower and 125 pound feet of torque. That brings the total figures to 429 hp and a whopping 516 lb-feet of torque. This is all accomplished by an engine nearly a liter smaller than the previous unit, checking in at 4.7-liters. Color us impressed! Check out the video below released regarding the updated car.
