Porsche Panamera Production Starts
Well well well, after years of development and much spirited debate production of the Porsche Panamera has started at it's Leizpig factory. The Porsche Cayenne is also produced at the same factory. How fitting, huh?
Well well well, after years of development and much spirited debate production of the Porsche Panamera has started at it's Leizpig factory. The Porsche Cayenne is also produced at the same factory. How fitting, huh? Two extremely controversial vehicles in Porsche's history, both produced at one plant.
Oddly enough, these two vehicles may prove to be some of the most successful for Porsche. Porsche plans to sell 20,000 units per year of the Panamera. We'll see if they hit that goal or not. Definitely pre-recession I think that was a sure thing, I think they still have pretty good chances of hitting their goal anyway, just due to the Porsche name and a desire for a 4-door model from the company.
I am looking forward to seeing the Panamera in person. Some cars look better in person than they do in pictures. I know that the Panamera isn't that great in pictures so hopefully that will be the case. (I doubt it but....)
One thing is, the Panamera has an excellent interior. I was really impressed with what Porsche has done in the interior. It is absolutely top notch and has a great design. Good work on the interior, Porsche!
The plant was closed for 8 months to retool and expand by 22,000 square meters to accommodate the new model. The plant is now open for free public tours again, which you can book on their website. Anyone up to sending me to check out the plant in person?
