MR Car Design 370HP VW Scirocco

Volkswagen really missed the boat, if you ask me, when they decided to keep the current gen Scirocco as a Euro-only car. Sure, sure, they have lots of marketing data to back up their decision, but there's still no getting away form the fact that it looks like gearheads outside of The Continent are really missing out.

And if that's not enough, it looks like you can squeeze the Bajeebus out of the little guy. Look at what this tuning firm called MR Car Design did with VW's Scirocco. 370 HP, that's what they did. Sadly, MR Car Design had to go and get "creative" in the naming department, calling their version of the Scirocco the 'Black Rocco' (which is pretty hideous).

The Scirocco is wrapped in a matte black vinyl, which is cheap and efficient and keeping with that on-going Euro trend of primer black with a different name. Going with a vinyl wrap is totally pussing out, if you ask me. You guys run a shop, get out the spray guns, or ask the body shop down the street to do it.

The Black Rocco (gah!, horrid name) starts out with a full body kit from long standing German body mod manufacturer Rieger. The kit includes a front apron, side skirts and a rear apron with an integrated diffuser that houses the four tail pipes. There are also red pin stripes and mammoth 20-inch alloy wheels wearing 235/30 ZR20 S1 EVO high performance tires.

Up in the engine compartment now resides a heavily squeezed rendering of the Scirocco's stock 210 HP 2.0-liter TFSI plant. The new mill features a Stage 3 turbo kit, a new downpipe, a reprogrammed ECU and a custom-made exhaust system that gets you an overall output of 370-horsepower and 382 lb-ft of peak torque. Impressive figures.

MR Car Design also added a new limited slip differential, Stoptech high performance brake system and new coilovers from KW Automotive, which sounds like a good idea. Keeping that many ponies firmly planted and under control in a front driver is always a good idea.

Price? MR Car Design hasn't said, but you figure it won't be cheap.
