The Lamborghini Urus' 48-Volt Electrics Are An Anti-Roll Miracle

Of all the supercar makers in the world, Lamborghini is the brand that's most adaptable to the SUV. Part of the measures to make the Urus handle as well as possible include an anti-roll chassis setup borrowed from Bentley

The Lamborghini Urus was always going to split opinion. The should-they-shouldn’t-they point is moot: it’s imminent and we know it’ll sell by the boat load in the Middle-East and China.

This video details part of Lamborghini’s efforts to make the Urus handle like a sports car rather than the many, many-tonne bug-crusher that it is. It borrows the 48-volt electrical system and anti-roll suspension we’ve already seen on the Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q7.

The Lamborghini Urus' 48-Volt Electrics Are An Anti-Roll Miracle

Flick the Urus’ Anima drive mode selector into Corsa and the system’s effect is the most pronounced. We see a test driver flinging the big Lamborghini around an otherwise empty track and it doesn’t seem to roll much at all. Nor does it look quite as drool-worthy as an Aventador or Huracan in full flight, but you definitely can’t win ‘em all.

The anti-roll system uses a complex setup of hydraulics and levers to apply torque to the suspension when needed, stopping the car from rolling. In the Bentayga it’s astonishing, delivering corner speeds you’d never have imagined possible.

More videos and insights are expected before the car’s official launch on 4 December. We’ll keep you up to date with what’s going on.

I can’t un-see that car and just did a bit of sick in my mouth. Ugly is an understatement…
