The Paris Auto Show promises to be a big one for Lamborghini. The brand has been slowly leaking out its teasers for its new models. Notice we say models - as there has been speculation that two models are headed for Paris.

One of the models is almost certainly the much-rumored new "Jota" supercar. Potential possibilities for the second model include a successor to the Gallardo (an unlikely prospect at this stage), a GT designed to take on the Ferrari 599 GTB/GTO or a production version of the Evoque.

We'd have to say the third model is most likely. For now though, we aren't getting any idea of what is coming from these teasers - just details.

This appears to be an interior element of one of the new Lamborghinis destined for Paris. Perhaps more interestingly than the teasers, Lamborghini has announced a new commitment to lightness. Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini's CEO, says the average weight of the company's cars since the 1980s has increased by 1,100 pounds.

That's quite an increase! What is the reason? Safety requirements, of course. But now, new requirements are coming in place that place restrictions on fuel consumption as well. What is the answer to meet all these goals without sacrificing performance? Reduce weight, of course. That is a possibility, thanks to materials like carbon fiber. Carbon fiber will feature prominently in future Lamborghinis.

Also new is an approach that focuses primarily on handling and acceleration, rather than pushing the boundaries of top speed.

This too will be accomplished by reducing weight. It is true that the supercars of today are insane in their top speed and even 0-60 numbers as well - but isn't that the point? Yes, yes it is. The second of Lamborghini's teasers is shown below.
