GT2 competitors in the American Le Mans Series, the beatings will continue, at least through the 2010 season, oh, and you chaps at Le Mans, same goes for you too. Corvette Racing has confirmed, despite rumors to the contrary, that they ain't giving up, they ain't going home, and that they will run the full 2010 ALMS season and race at the 24 hours of Le Mans as well.

Yes, they only ran a partial season in the American Le Mans Series in 2009 as ALMS transitioned from GT1 to GT2 spec. But for 2010, Corvette Racing will be back for a full season. And not only will the factory Corvette C6.Rs be running all nine ALMS events this year, but two of the ever so pretty yellow and black Vettes are headed back to central France this coming June hoping for seventh class victory at Le Mans.

Seven. God I love it when GM pulls their head out of the ass and finally goes racing right.

Do you remember when GM ran Cadillacs in the LMP 1 category at Le Mans? You don't? Good. Just as well. They came in with much fanfare, and got beat like a damn drum by the rest of the field. It was a horrible and vicious thing to watch, as the then-largest automaker in the world got their collective asses handed to them by the likes of Audi et al.

Confused and bewildered, they were clear seconds off the pace per lap, and suffered plagues of mechanical ills and breakdowns. The recriminations and blood letting in Detroit must have been ghastly to watch, but no one from the outside world was allowed into those Torquemada-esque gatherings, And just as well.

But so what? Concentrate on the Corvette, and all it's front-engined, V8 glory. Yes, they didn't win right out of the box (ask the guys fro ORECA that ran those God-awful fast Vipers for a while), but once they got things sorted and up to speed, Corvette Racing has been working it.
