In case you haven't noticed, Ford has been on quite a renaissance lately. Market share has actually increased for 2009 (the first increase since 1995!) and new products are being received on the market well.

For instance, the Fusion just recently won Motor Trend's Car of the Year award. Now the company is building on the its well received SYNC system to go even further with MyTouch (MyFord in a Ford, MyLincoln in a Lincoln).

Ford was already a leader in this regard - the company has debuted excellent interface systems in new products like the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKT that we tested last year. The systems are intuitive and tie everything in with a large screen. MyFord takes that further, moving even more buttons into the screen's interface.

It starts off by grouping everything into four different categories, each differentiated by color - Phone, Navigation, Entertainment, and Climate. Each is available to access at all times, with each placed at the four corners of the screen. In addition, the system is fully customizable, allowing you to change the colors and appearance of the interface, and also what information you will see on the main screen of your system.

The system, like the Ford Fusion Hybrid, places two screens alongside the analog speedometer - the one to the left provides essential system elements like the car's trip computer, radar cruise control distance indicator, vehicle information and a tachometer if you program it. To the left, the other screen provides information for the four main categories Phone, Navigation, Entertainment and Climate.

All these controls are accessible through the screen, buttons on the steering wheel or enhanced voice commands. Other very important developments announced by Ford are SYNC Apps, one of which is a program that will let you stream internet radio like Pandora to your car.

Others are song tagging that enables you to tag a song that you like on the radio. The possibilities are endless, and for someone interested in technology, this is a very huge development.

The system is set to launch this year on the 2011 Ford Edge, followed by the 2011 Lincoln MKX and the 2012 Ford Focus being introduced this Monday.

This is what the American manufacturers need to do - be leading. Ford was already with systems like those found in the MKT - they have just outdid themselves even more with this new system. That's the way to do it guys!
