IS-F Power: UK Police Add IS To Fleet

When you're fighting crime, sometimes mainstream vehicles just aren't going to cut it. We've seen a variety of performance cars used as police cars in certain locales, like a Lamborghini in Italy (!). Now police in the county of Humberside have seen fit to a healthy dose of power to their fleet.

How does an IS-F sound?

The IS-F takes the capable RWD of the IS and adds a 416-horsepower 5.0-liter V8, modified suspension and an eight-speed automatic sourced from the LS 460 luxury sedan. The IS-F was also the very first performance vehicle from Toyota's luxury division. Sergeant Mike Peck had this to say about the IS-F police cars:

"The Lexus was tested during a 12-month period along with similar vehicles and proved itself to be ideally suited in providing a dynamically safe high performance chassis along with an electronically stable platform for the computer equipment. In the past this equipment has placed huge demands on vehicles but the Lexus IS-F easily met with our requirements. The final product provides a most formidable package and is undoubtedly one of the most advanced police vehicles in the world which in turn enables my officers to deal with the criminals who use the roads for serious and organized crime."

I certainly wouldn't want to be chased by such a vehicle - for law breakers, no doubt a frightening sight. Let it strike fear into the hearts of criminals everywhere - err, at least in Humberside County, England.
