CT Asks: What Would You Buy?

After watching Adnan's very excellent account of the work being produced at A.

After watching Adnan's very excellent account of the work being produced at A. Kahn Design, featuring machinery such as the 458 Italia and the Veyron, I took a brief moment to plan a bank robbery investigate the cost of these fabulous cars. Given the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, I think that these vehicles are certainly worth the cash. This led me to think about the cost versus value of other cars.

Toyota's GT86 is an excellent example. Being jointly developed by two companies allows them to have a well sorted, fun-to-drive car on offer for a reasonable price. Lucky buggers who get to drive the GT86 talk about the sweet handling and the near perfect weight distribution. At less than 25 large, it's a deal. Sign me up!

At the opposite end of the spectrum is a monstrosity called the GMC Yukon XL. This 564.9cm beast darkened my driveway for a week while my daily driver was in the shop. Wanting to learn more, I went to the GM Build & Price tool and was startled to learn that the Cadillac version of this truck has a suggested retail price of $115,895USD. According to the exchange app on my iPhone, that equates to £74,406 at today's rates! That's for a truck whose interior hasn’t significantly changed since 2006! I'm running out of exclamations!

So, readers - what automotive purchase would you make for such a sum? After picking my slack-jawed self off the floor, I did some totting up and worked out that you could buy a new Toyota GT86, a brace of used MX5s, and a 2005 Sagaris from the recently bankrupted TVR all for the same damn amount. So what would you choose for £74,406? A garage full of speed or would you blow it all on a single car? Let us know your choice in the comments below.
