I get the distinct feeling that many of these crashes could have been avoided if the car wasnt equipped with abs.

on some of these… like that audi wagon and the little red civic, it looks like there was no damage done to them after they slapped the wall

As a motorcyclist, I am ashamed of all of the wrecks involving them. Especially the ones that ride into the grass and could easily save it if they’d just stand up, stay straight, and lightly hit the rear brake… On the subject of brakes, why on Earth don’t people lock up the brakes to maintain a straight slide? So many of them could have avoided the inside walls if they’d just slam the brakes!

This gave me 3 thoughts;

  1. STOP CHRASHING M3’s AND R34’s!
  2. Does not seem like golf mkII’s are a good choise on the track.
  3. Maybe it’s time to consider restricting access for motorcycles on public days.

That Ferrari 458 Italia at 8:50. That is how you “counter” locked brakes. SLOWLY lift the brakes and ready for corner. Never lift all the way, weight shift will make you lose control. Another thing I see in the video is that one corner where almost everyone messes up. Actually they lift the brakes and weight is shifted creating an unblance. This unblanace is even more appearant on FWD cars. It’s called the scandinavian flick, a way to “drift” an FWD car. And locking the brakes… It is our nature to press on the brakes when we lose traction. That is correct, but never press hard and lock the brakes, total steering loss.
